At the Voluntary Legal Services Program of Northern California, we are often asked by prospective volunteers and donors what our areas of greatest needs are. The following list summarizes the greatest needs of our program at this time (besides new funding, of course)
We are always in need of volunteer attorneys with experience in those areas of civil law most in demand by our low income clients. Volunteers are needed at our clinics, to take on cases for direct representation, and to act as mentors to the many newer attorneys who seek to volunteer with our organization each year.
Advisory Committee Members
VLSP has an Advisory Committee comprised of local attorneys who help govern our program. Members help with policy-making, publicity tasks, fundraising, and the like.
Joining the Advisory Committee is a terrific way to meet some generous and civic-minded lawyers.
Every fall, VLSP holds its primary fundraiser, a one day phonathon where volunteers solicit donations from members of the community.
We are always in need of volunteers who will make these calls at our Phonathon.
People are naturally reticent to do this, but once they participate, they always enjoy the experience.
We gratefully accept tangible items that our program needs to support our ongoing operations. Currently these needs include:
- Plain white copy paper.
- Practice Guides, books, software programs (we can let you know our most urgent needs).
- Technology (computers, printers, etc.)-this need changes constantly.
