| The Voluntary Legal Services Program of Northern
California is a nonprofit agency that relies upon funding from a variety
of sources to sustain its operations. VLSP is jointly sponsored by
the Sacramento County Bar Association and Legal Services of Northern
California (another nonprofit legal services organization), and receives
funding from both sources.
VLSP also receives support from the State Bar of California’s Legal Services Trust Fund Program and federal, state and local government agencies to support specific projects that provide legal assistance to the low income residents of Sacramento County.
VLSP is also a certified United Way agency, and receives donations
from individuals who specify VLSP as the recipient of their donations.
Voluntary contributions from law firms and individual attorneys,
and the general public, also provide substantial operating revenue
to augment our funding.
Since 1991, VLSP has held an annual “Phonathon” which
raises vitally needed revenue. Local attorneys come together and
call their colleagues seeking donations to support the services
provided by VLSP. The Phonathon is a fun event that is very successful
in raising revenue for VLSP.
The generous support of all these individuals, businesses and agencies
helps makes access to the law a reality for those who cannot otherwise
afford legal services.
For further information about how you can support VLSP, please
