Family Law
The Voluntary Legal Services Program of Northern California provides very limited services to clients who need help with family law problems, which includes divorce, establishing paternity, setting child and spousal support, custody and visitation.
VLSP does not take cases seeking the return of a client’s child who is in the custody of Child Protective Services (CPS). In addition, we are unable to provide help with the collection of child or spousal support.
Because of the overwhelming client demand for services in this area, and the relatively few numbers of volunteer attorneys available to accept such cases pro bono, VLSP is rarely able to take family law cases for referral. If that is the case, we will leave a message on our client intake telephone line: (916) 551-2102.
